Sara Hosseinian Amiri

Born in Tehran in 1982, Sara received her Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Arts and Architecture of the Central Tehran branch of Azad University in 2005 before receiving her master’s degree from Imam Khomeini International University in 2005. She has also taught courses on architectural design in different universities, including the West Tehran branch of Azad University, from 2009 to 2018. Through the years, given her personal interest in Origami, she has started to make lightings and geometrical shapes using origami patterns as a hobby that she enjoys. In 2017, together with Hooman Balazadeh, she made a kinetic lighting using a folding-origami style, which was put on display in Objet exhibition. In 2018, her folding-origami dress was worn on the catwalk at Romania’s Feeric Fashion Week with Architecture in Fashion platform. The design was shown as the first look in runway and received a lot of attention. She has also worked as an instructor assistant in the Code Structured City course (Tower Typology) and also as an instructor in Rethinking Modularities (Emergent role of pattern in future design), which studied geometric patterns in architecture, fashion, and other fields of design. In 2018, she founded the Sors brand along with Sepideh and Bahareh. Using origami patterns and folding techniques are prevalent in their works.
